Bondi Surf Girls – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“T&Cs”) apply to all rentals and storage services provided by Bondi Surf Girls (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By renting or storing equipment with us, you (“the customer,” “you,” or “the storer/renter”) agree to the following:

1. Equipment Rental

1.1 Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years or older to rent equipment.

  • A valid photo ID must be provided at the time of rental.

1.2 Responsibility for Loss/Damage

  • You are fully responsible and liable for any loss of, or damage to, rented equipment (surfboards, wetsuits, or other gear) from the moment you take possession until the equipment is returned.

  • Bondi Surf Girls may charge your nominated payment method for the cost of repair or replacement up to 21 days after the rental period ends.

1.3 Damage Costs (guideline)

  • Surfboard damage: up to AUD $350

  • Wetsuit damage: up to AUD $100

  • Bodyboard damage: up to AUD $150
    (We may charge more if replacement cost is higher.)

1.4 Late Returns

  • A late return fee of AUD $30 per item applies, plus AUD $30 per additional hour beyond the agreed rental period.

1.5 Refunds

  • No refunds are provided for early returns or unused time.

1.6 Assumption of Risk

  • Surfing carries inherent risks. By renting equipment, you accept full responsibility for your safety and the safety of your belongings.

  • You agree not to use equipment in unsafe or restricted conditions (e.g., outside flagged areas, dangerous surf conditions).

2. Surfboard Storage

2.1. Membership & Facility Access

2.1.1 Membership
You must complete our registration process and pay all applicable fees before accessing the storage garage located at the address we provide in the welcome email (“Garage”).

2.1.2 Access Codes & Keys
Garage access codes, keys, or lockbox codes are issued only to registered Members. You must not share access credentials with any third party.

2. Storage Facility & Use

2.2.1 License to Store Only
BSG grants you a non-exclusive, revocable license to store your Board in the Garage during your paid membership period. You do not gain any right, title, or interest in the Garage.

2.2.2 Permitted Items
Only surfboards or surfboard-related accessories (e.g., fins, leashes) may be stored. Any other items are prohibited.

2.2.3 Board Placement & Security
You are responsible for placing and locking your Board securely. BSG may provide a chain for shared racks, but you are solely responsible for using a lock to secure your Board.

3. Assumption of Risk & Member Responsibility

2.3.1 Storage at Your Own Risk
ou acknowledge and agree that your Board is stored at your sole risk. BSG does not act as a bailee, warehouseman, or insurer for your Board. BSG is not responsible for loss, theft, damage, deterioration, fire, water, vandalism, or any other incident affecting your Board, regardless of the cause.

2.3.2 No Liability for Boards or Accessories
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BSG expressly disclaims all liability for any loss, damage, injury, claim, expense, or cost related to your Board or other property in storage, including but not limited to theft, break-in, environmental damage, or acts of third parties.

2.3.3 Your Duties
You agree to:

  • Secure your Board with your own lock.

  • Ensure your Board does not block access or create a hazard.

  • Comply with all posted signage and reasonable directions from BSG.

4. Garage Access & Security

2.4.1 Lockbox & Key Return
If a key or code is issued for access, you must return keys after each use and ensure the Garage is fully secured. Failure to do so may result in suspension of access and recovery of costs for re-securing the facility.

2.4.2 Unauthorized Access
You must not allow non-members or unauthorized persons to use your access or lockbox code. You are solely responsible for misuse of your access.

5. Fees, Billing & Cancellation

2.5.1 Fees
All Storage Service fees are due in advance. Membership renews until cancelled.

2.5.2 Late Payment / Suspension
If storage fees remain unpaid, BSG may suspend access and, after notice, remove your Board in accordance with these Terms.

2.5.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your membership by notifying BSG before the next billing cycle. No refunds apply to fees already paid.

6. Default, Abandonment & Disposal

2.6.1 Default
If you fail to pay fees or comply with these Terms, BSG may remove your Board from storage.

2.6.2 Abandonment
If your Board remains unpaid or unclaimed for more than 42 days after notice, BSG may dispose of, sell, or otherwise deal with your Board to recover costs.

7. Indemnity & Release

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release, indemnify, and hold BSG, its owners, officers, volunteers, and agents harmless from any and all claims, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including legal costs) arising out of or in any way connected with your storage of a Board, including claims for personal injury, property damage, or economic loss.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

9. Acknowledgment & Acceptance

By storing your Board and using the Garage, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in full.

3. Surf meet-ups

3.1. General

By attending a Bondi Surf Girls (“BSG”) community meet-up, you acknowledge and agree that this is an informal social gathering, not a guided tour, surf lesson, supervised activity, or organised event.

BSG does not provide coaching, supervision, safety assessment, or professional surf instruction of any kind. All participation is strictly voluntary and at your own risk.

3.2. Meet-Up Description

BSG community meet-ups are casual social gatherings where individuals independently choose to surf, swim, or participate in beach activities.

You acknowledge that:

  • BSG is not providing structured activities or surf-related services;

  • BSG organisers and volunteers are not acting as instructors, lifeguards, guides, or safety personnel;

  • You are solely responsible for your own decisions, conduct, and safety.

There is no obligation for BSG to supervise participants, evaluate their abilities, or determine whether conditions are suitable for them.

3.3. Weather & Conditions

This meet-up proceeds regardless of general weather conditions. BSG does not assess surf conditions, tides, rips, currents, hazards, or environmental risks.

Each participant is solely responsible for:

  • evaluating whether conditions are appropriate for them;

  • deciding whether to enter the water;

  • withdrawing from participation at any time.

BSG does not guarantee surf suitability, safety, or comfort.

3.4. Cancellations & Changes

Because this is a casual, informal meet-up, BSG may change the meeting time or location or choose not to attend without obligation or liability.

If participants choose not to attend, no refund or compensation is provided (if costs such as transport have been booked independently).

3.5. Liability, Risks & Personal Responsibility

Surfing and ocean activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • drowning, serious injury, collisions, and marine hazards

  • rips, strong currents, and unstable surf conditions

  • impacts with boards, sandbanks, or other surfers

  • unpredictable environmental changes

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • You participate entirely at your own risk.

  • You do not rely on BSG for safety, guidance, instruction, advice, or risk management.

  • You are a competent swimmer and responsible for assessing your own skill level and fitness.

  • BSG, its owners, volunteers, organisers, and associated persons are not liable for any injury, accident, illness, loss, property damage, or incident arising from your participation, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

  • BSG does not owe a duty of care to supervise, instruct, or protect participants during meet-ups.

You are strongly encouraged to hold personal accident, health, or travel insurance.

3.6. Transport & Equipment

Any transport used (including buses) is provided by an independent third-party operator not associated with BSG. BSG accepts no responsibility for transport safety, delays, or incidents.

Any surfboard, wetsuit, or gear you bring, rent, or borrow is used at your own risk.

3.7. Media & Content

By attending the meet-up, you consent to BSG capturing photos or videos that may be used for community or promotional purposes. If you prefer not to appear in content, please notify BSG before the meet-up.

3.8. Acceptance of Terms

By attending the meet-up, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all sections of these Terms & Conditions.
Your participation constitutes full acceptance of all risks and a release of BSG from liability to the maximum extent permitted by law.

4. Payments & Cancellations

  • All rentals, events and storage services must be prepaid.

  • No refunds for unused time or early pickup.

  • Monthly storage plans can be cancelled anytime before the next billing cycle.

5. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Bondi Surf Girls harmless from all claims, losses, damages, and expenses arising from your use of rental equipment or storage services, including injury to yourself or others.

6. Governing Law

These T&Cs are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
